Air New Zealand Limited has announced a partnership with My Native Forest to support the development of native forest projects in New Zealand. The airline has committed to purchasing 8,000 tonnes of carbon removals, with delivery scheduled for 2028, 2029, and 2030. The carbon credits, each representing one tonne of carbon removed from the atmosphere, will be verified to international standards and issued through a global registry. Air New Zealand states that the initiative aims to contribute to native forest restoration across several regions, with the potential for additional biodiversity and pest control benefits. The company also indicated it is in the final stages of securing an agreement with a second New Zealand-based supplier of internationally verified nature-based carbon removals.
