Malaysian Shares Erase Losses Mirroring Positive Regional Performance; Top Glove's Shares Rally 16%

Malaysian shares ended higher on Thursday, erasing yesterday's losses, and mirroring regional gains.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, the main gauge of Malaysian stocks, gained 2.17 points to end 0.13% higher at 1,629.67. The day range was between 1,626.67 and 1,632.53.

In corporate news, shares of Top Glove (KLSE:TOPGLOV, SGX:BVA) jumped about 16% on close after it booked an attributable profit to owners of 38.6 million ringgit for the fiscal fourth quarter ended Aug. 31, against an attributable loss of 6.6 million ringgit a year earlier. Earnings per share came in at 0.0048 ringgit compared with a loss per share of 0.0008 ringgit in the comparable period.

Moreover, Top Glove is seeking its shareholders' approval to renew share buyback authority to purchase up to 10% of the issued shares of the company.

Carzo's (KLSE:CARZO) board has decided not to appeal Bursa Malaysia Securities' decision to delist the company. As a result, trading in Carzo's securities will be suspended from Oct. 10, and the company will be delisted on Oct. 15.
