Domino's Navigates an Environment of 'Surprise' -- WSJ

Domino's Pizza may be selling a lot of pies this year, but CEO Russell Weiner said that slinging dough in an unpredictable business climate requires agility--and discounts.

Parsing consumer sentiment, value wars among rivals and the government shutdown's effects has become increasingly challenging, Weiner said. "Every day you wake up and there is a little bit of a different surprise," Weiner said in an interview Tuesday.

Domino's posted third-quarter sales growth and reaffirmed its U.S. same-store expectations for the year. The company sees a murkier outlook for restaurants for the rest of 2025, and Weiner said that Domino's has added new promotions in response.

A $9.99 pizza deal is helping Domino's capture business from competitors and the company is extending it as a result, he said.
