Proximus SA, together with Fiberklaar, Telenet, and Wyre, has announced plans to collaborate on the deployment of high-speed gigabit networks in Flanders. The proposed partnership aims to accelerate the roll-out of fiber connectivity to approximately 2 million homes and businesses in medium to low-density areas, while about 700,000 homes in the most sparsely populated regions will be served using hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) technology. Access to the networks will be available to all operators on fair and non-discriminatory terms. The agreement, which follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed in July 2024, is currently undergoing a market test overseen by the Belgian Competition Authority, with a final decision pending regulatory approval. Until then, the companies will continue to deploy fiber networks independently.
