Smith Micro Software to Cut 30% of Jobs

Smith Micro Software is eliminating 30% of its workforce.

The company, which provides software for wireless products, said Wednesday the job cuts are expected to save $7.2 million in costs during 2026, excluding payment of employee separation costs.

The reduction is intended to improve efficiency and profitability. It is part of a broader reorganization effort.

As part of that effort, David Blakeney, senior vice president of engineering, retired in late September, and Chief Technology Officer David Sperling will take over his role in addition to his current job.
