CHICAGO, Oct 17 (Reuters) - Corn and soybean basis bids were steady to higher at elevators, processors and ethanol plants in the U.S. Midwest on Friday as the harvest progressed, a spot check of locations showed.

• Showers crossing portions of the Midwest in the next 1-5 days are expected to cause few interruptions to the ongoing corn and soybean harvest, according to Commodity Weather Group.

• The corn basis rose by 2 cents per bushel at a processor in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and at an ethanol plant in Union City, Indiana.

• The soybean basis rose by a cent at an elevator in Cincinnati, Ohio and by 5 cents and 10 cents, respectively, at processors in Decatur, Indiana and Morristown, Indiana.

• On the Chicago Board of Trade, December corn futures CZ25 rose 3/4 cent to $4.22-1/2 a bushel. November soybeans SX25 climbed 8-3/4 cents at $10.19-1/2 a bushel.
