Nintendo (TYO:7974) has asked its suppliers to manufacture up to 25 million Switch 2 consoles by March 2026, aiming for a record-breaking first-year launch, Bloomberg News reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.
This ambitious production plan, which began around the end of 2024, is based on the company's expectations for strong holiday and early-year demand, said the news wire.
Based on these shipping estimates, Nintendo is projected to sell roughly 20 million units in the current fiscal year, comfortably surpassing analyst forecasts, the publication said.
The final production figures may still be adjusted after the critical holiday shopping season provides a clearer demand signal, said the report.
Nintendo has yet to reply to MTNewswire queries at press time.
