QuantumScape (QS) reported a Q3 loss late Wednesday of $0.18 per diluted share, narrower than a loss of $0.23 a year earlier.
Analysts polled by FactSet expected a loss of $0.20.
The company, which is developing solid-state lithium-metal batteries, did not report any revenue for the quarter.
Separately, the firm said it has begun shipping B1 samples of its QSE-5 cell, reaching a key goal for the year.
Shares were up over 7% in extended trading.
