Shares in Rentokil Initial rose after the company posted an increase in revenue for the third quarter, driven by its North America performance.

Shares in early trade were up 42 pence, or 10%, at 449.30 pence, having risen to 480 pence earlier in the session.

The U.K. pest-control, hygiene and workwear-services provider on Thursday said revenue in the North America business grew 4.6%, with organic revenue growth of 3.4% in the period.

Group revenue in the quarter climbed to $1.81 billion from $1.72 billion in the same period last year.

Rentokil Initial said organic revenue growth at North America Pest Control Services was 1.8%, with North America Business Services continuing to see positive momentum with revenue growth of 14.4%, and 11.9% on an organic basis.

Staff retention in North America reached 81.8% at the end of the period, compared with 80.7% in the first half. Customer retention was 80.9%, up from 80.5% in the first half, it said.

The company said it had sustained a strong pricing discipline with price increases slightly above inflation.

"In North America, it is pleasing to see the actions we have taken to improve sales execution and to evolve our digital marketing strategy are driving positive lead flow and overall sales momentum in the quarter," Chief Executive Andy Ransom said.
