OPAL Fuels Inc., in partnership with SJI, has announced the opening of a Renewable Natural Gas $(RNG)$ facility at the Atlantic County Utilities Authority's (ACUA) landfill in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. The project captures landfill gas and processes it into RNG, providing a lower-carbon alternative to diesel and conventional natural gas. This marks the first time RNG will be delivered directly into the South Jersey Gas pipeline system, supplying energy to local homes and businesses. The facility is expected to produce over 650,000 MMBtu of RNG annually-equivalent to nearly 4.6 million gallons of gas-and is projected to reduce methane emissions and avoid more than 346,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide each year. The initiative aims to improve air quality, create jobs, and support American energy independence.
