Aclara Resources Inc. has announced plans to build the first heavy rare earths (HREE) separation facility in the United States, to be located in Louisiana. The facility will be supplied with sustainable feedstock from ionic clay deposits in Brazil and Chile, making it the only fully integrated heavy rare earth separation operation in the Western world capable of producing material volumes at scale. The project is scheduled for completion in 2027, subject to funding and offtake agreements, with production targeted by mid-2028. Louisiana was selected for its strong chemical and manufacturing ecosystem, favorable investment climate, and strategic location. The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to critical minerals reindustrialization in the Western Hemisphere.
