Ramaco Resources will establish a stockpile of rare earth elements and other critical minerals at its Brook Mine facility in Wyoming.

The initiative aims to ensure a secure and reliable supply of materials essential for U.S. industrial and defense applications, the company said Monday.

Ramaco said the project could help reduce supply-chain risks and support domestic production of minerals used in electric vehicles, wind turbines and defense systems. The move comes amid renewed trade tensions between the U.S. and China following new restrictions on rare-earth materials that China imposed earlier this month.

The stockpile, called the Strategic Critical Minerals Terminal, will be developed with an unnamed partner that Ramaco described as a nationally recognized commodity adviser. It will serve as a storage and distribution hub for materials produced at Brook Mine as well as from third-party sources.

The Brook Mine spans about 15,800 acres, with roughly a quarter of the area currently permitted. Ramaco said it intends to seek permits to expand mining on the remaining acreage.

Located near a rail line and interstate highway, the site will enable efficient distribution to customers nationwide. The mine is believed to be among the world's only primary sources of scandium, gallium and germanium, Ramaco added.
