1327 ET - Burger quick-service restaurants have led the charge in the industry's post-pandemic inflation and are now badly positioned as consumers pull back, Mizuho analyst Nick Setyan says. The quick-service segment is now 12% more expensive relative to grocery than in 2019 and quick-service burger restaurants are 18% more expensive than grocery. Conversely, pizza quick service restaurants are now 18% more affordable than burger QSR. Domino's in particular maintained check growth below inflation and is now better positioned for same-store sales, unit and margin growth today than at any point over the past 5 years, Setyan says.
