Shares of Air New Zealand (ASX:AIZ, NZE:AIR) rose around 1% in the New Zealand bourse and nearly 2% in recent Australian trade on Wednesday after the airline shared on Tuesday the launch of a new seasonal direct flight between Christchurch and Adelaide, aimed at boosting trans-Tasman travel and tourism.
The new service will operate twice weekly from Oct. 27 to March 27, 2026, offering around 15,000 seats on a narrowbody Airbus jet, the company said.
The route is designed to enhance travel convenience for South Islanders and Australians, while strengthening tourism, regional connections, and supporting economic growth, the company added.
