Ametek lifts annual profit forecast on strong demand for electromechanical tools

Oct 30 (Reuters) - Industrial tools maker Ametek AME.N raised its annual profit forecast on Thursday after beating third-quarter estimates, benefiting from strong demand in its electromechanical unit.

Shares rose about 6% in premarket trading after the results.

Quarterly sales at the electromechanical segment, which produces specialized motors, sensors and motion control systems used across industrial and aerospace markets, rose 13% from a year ago to $646.3 million.

The segment benefited from higher orders for Paragon Medical unit, which makes engineered medical components and instruments, leading to a 250 basis point expansion in operating income margin.

The Berwyn, Pennsylvania-based company had said earlier that it expects to see benefits from tariff mitigation measures, such as localized manufacturing and price adjustments, throughout the year.

The company forecast 2025 adjusted profit in the range of $7.32 to $7.37 per share, above its prior view of $7.06 to $7.20 per share.

Ametek earned third-quarter profit of $1.89 per share on an adjusted basis, beating analysts' average estimate of $1.76 per share, according to data compiled by LSEG.

The company's quarterly net sales rose to $1.89 billion, from $1.71 billion a year ago. Analysts were expecting revenue of $1.82 billion.
