Consumer stocks were falling pre-bell Thursday, with The Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) down 0.2% and The Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) 1.3% lower.

Estee Lauder (EL) stock was down nearly 1% even after the company posted higher fiscal Q1 adjusted earnings and net sales.
Hershey (HSY) shares were down more than 1% after the company reported a decline in fiscal Q3 adjusted earnings.
