Southern Cross Media Group (ASX:SXL) said an independent expert concluded that the proposed merger with Seven West Media (ASX:SWM) via a scheme of arrangement is in the best interest of the company's shareholders in the absence of a superior proposal, according to a Tuesday filing with the Australian bourse.

Under the deal, Seven West's shareholders will receive 0.1552 Southern Cross shares for every share held.
