Lenovo Group Limited has released a new industry analysis highlighting the urgent need for data centers in EMEA to evolve in response to growing demands from AI, sustainability, and real-time computing. According to Lenovo's "Data Center of the Future" study, conducted with Opinium and surveying 250 IT decision makers across several European countries and the UAE, half of IT leaders believe traditional data centers are no longer fit for purpose. While 92% of respondents now prioritize technology partners who can reduce energy use and carbon footprint, only 46% feel their current data center design supports their sustainability goals. The study also found that 90% expect AI to significantly increase data usage, but just 41% are prepared to integrate AI efficiently. Data sovereignty and low latency were identified as top priorities, driving interest in new data center concepts such as liquid cooling, reuse of existing locations, and integration with community infrastructure.
