Backblaze Inc. has released its inaugural Performance Stats report, a quarterly benchmarking initiative evaluating cloud storage performance across Backblaze B2, AWS S3, Cloudflare R2, and Wasabi. The report uses standardized testing from a neutral Vultr-hosted environment and Catchpoint's monitoring network, simulating real-world customer conditions. Key findings from the Q3 2025 testing indicate performance variations among providers, with sustained throughput highlighted as more significant than average speeds. AWS S3 showed the lowest average download times but led in only one out of eight sustained throughput tests. Backblaze led in six out of eight categories, while Wasabi led in one. The full report, including methodology and raw data, is available for public review, with plans to expand coverage to additional providers and regions in future reports.
