Southern Cross Media Receives ACCC Approval for Proposed Merger With Seven West

Southern Cross Media (ASX:SXL) said that the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) will not oppose its proposed merger with Seven West Media (ASX:SWM), according to a Thursday filing with the Australian bourse.

The ACCC confirmed that the merger will not "substantially" lessen competition, the filing said.

The deal remains subject to approval from shareholders and the Australian Communications and Media Authority.

Shares of Southern Cross were up 2% in recent Thursday trade, while shares of Seven West rose nearly 2%.
