Ameresco Inc. has announced the groundbreaking of a major solar energy project in partnership with the City of Chandler. The initiative will deploy solar photovoltaic systems across 22 municipal facilities, including City Hall, public safety stations, and water treatment plants. The project, totaling 7.74 MW-DC / 5.85 MW-AC, is expected to generate more than 14.5 million kilowatt-hours annually, offsetting over 60% of the electricity needs at the participating sites. The city anticipates annual utility savings of more than $1 million and a significant reduction in reliance on external energy sources. Construction is expected to be completed in 2026, with partial funding provided by the Federal Investment Tax Credit for Renewable Energy.
