Starbucks (SBUX) striking baristas have spread to over 30 new stores in 25 new cities, the Workers United union said Thursday.

The employees protesting the company's "unfair labor practices" and "union busting" has reached 2,000, with 95 stores across 65 cities now engaged in the open-ended strike, the union said.

Workers United said it is demanding a fair union contract and the resolution unfair labor practice charges and is prepared to continue escalating to "make this the largest, longest strike in company history."

In an emailed statement to MT Newswires, a Starbucks spokesperson said the company does not expect any meaningful disruption and remains ready to talk when the union is willing to renegotiate.

The spokesperson also said that some of the union's proposals were not serious and evidence-based, and that they would "significantly affect store operations and customer experience," citing a letter to partners from chief partner officer Sara Kelly.
