Stellantis' (STLA) FCA US subsidiary, formerly Chrysler, is recalling 112,859 vehicles in the US as debris inside the engine could result in engine failure or compartment fire, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a notice.

The automaker is recalling certain 2023-2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE and 2024-2025 Jeep Wrangler 4XE plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, the regulator said.

A Stellantis spokesperson told MT Newswires in an email Friday that the company anticipates a remedy for the recall of certain 2020-2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and 2022-2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe SUVs would be available next month.

A software update to the high-voltage battery pack control module will provide early detection of internal battery separator damage, the spokesperson said, adding that the battery will be replaced for free and the company will extend the warranty for the battery related to this condition.
