Clean Energy Fuels Corporation announced it has been awarded a contract to design and build a new hydrogen fueling station for Gold Coast Transit District (GCTD) in Ventura County, California. The agreement includes a five-year maintenance contract for the private station, which will initially fuel five hydrogen fuel cell buses, with plans to expand to a fleet of approximately 70 zero-emission vehicles by 2040. The project is supported by a $12.1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Transit Administration for the construction of the station and the purchase of hydrogen fuel cell electric buses. The hydrogen station is expected to be completed in 2027 at GCTD's Oxnard facility. Clean Energy currently maintains GCTD's natural gas station and supplies renewable natural gas for its fleet.
