Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang said the financing of the costly AI buildout is up to its customers. Investors have grown nervous about the amount of money tech companies are spending to build out artificial-intelligence infrastructure and train AI models.
"We are seeing the opportunity to grow," he said on a call with investors. He added that the cost to compute is declining, and that the company's customer base can rely on it because it has a resilient supply chain.
"Our reputation and our credibility is incredible," he said. "It takes a really strong balance sheet to do that, to support the level of growth and the rate of growth."
He also said Nvidia expects its investment of as much as $100 billion in OpenAI to pay off because it is a "once in a generation company."
