** Canadians could face longer waits for generic versions of diabetes drug Ozempic as Health Canada continues to lag in reviewing new drug applications, Swiss generic drugmaker Sandoz SDZ.S said on Thursday.

** BCE Inc. BCE.TO said on Thursday it will cut about 700 non-union jobs as part of a three-year plan to trim debt and invest in growth, marking the latest round of layoffs in Canada’s telecom industry.

** Mining executive and activist Mick McMullen has put himself forward as a contender for the top job at Barrick Mining Corp ABX.TO, saying issues at the Canadian gold producer can be resolved.

NATIONAL POST

** Canada's parliamentary budget office said on Thursday there is only a slim chance the Carney government will meet any of its three fiscal anchors, including a goal to lower the deficit-to-GDP ratio in the coming years.

** Norway's battery materials maker Vianode divulged more details about its multi-billion-dollar synthetic graphite plant in Ontario, saying that it will be backed by a C$670 million ($475.75 million) provincial loan and would generate up to 1000 jobs at full capacity, the company said on Thursday.
