Market Chatter: Singapore's GasCo to Seek Long-Term LNG Supply Contracts in 2026

GasCo, Singapore's state gas buyer, said it will begin seeking offers for long-term liquefied natural gas supply starting in the first quarter of 2026 to help cover an expected shortfall from 2028, Reuters reported Friday.

CEO Alan Heng said existing gas supply contracts can meet the city-state's needs for the next two years, but the supply gap is projected to widen to about 3 million metric tons between 2028 and 2029, according to the report.

Singapore generates about 95% of its electricity from gas, the report said.

Buyers will continue managing existing contracts, with most piped-gas deals ending by 2028 and LNG contracts expiring between 2028 and 2032, Heng said.
