1205 ET - Lowe's outperformed Home Depot in the third quarter and it might have been due to its greater reliance on small-to-medium-sized pro customers, which are continuing to get work even as larger pros suffer from homeowners delaying large remodels, analysts say. The smaller pro does handyman type of work, such as repainting a room or patching a wall, says Telsey analyst Joe Feldman in an interview. While both Home Depot and Lowe's cater to this customer, Home Depot has a greater focus on larger pros, who do home renovations or additions, Feldman says. Home Depot said Tuesday homeowners are delaying those projects because of economic uncertainty. (nicholas.miller@wsj.com)
