Beyond Meat Inc. is currently involved in multiple legal disputes. In one case, Sonate Corporation, operating as Vegadelphia Foods, filed a complaint in 2022 alleging that Beyond Meat and Dunkin' Brands infringed on Sonate's trademark by using the taglines "Great Taste Plant-Based" and "Plant-Based Great Taste." Sonate is seeking injunctive relief, damages, and other monetary awards. Additionally, Beyond Meat faces litigation in Canada with Aliments BVeggie Inc., which claims that Beyond Meat breached a co-manufacturing agreement, made misleading statements about purchase volumes, and wrongfully terminated their business relationship. BVeggie is seeking damages totaling approximately 129.8 million Canadian dollars. The Superior Court of Quebec ruled that the dispute should be resolved through arbitration in California, a decision upheld on appeal. BVeggie has the option to seek leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada. Separately, BVeggie has also initiated proceedings to void a $5.1 million machinery purchase agreement with Beyond Meat. This litigation is currently suspended pending the outcome of the appeals process.
