Ørsted A/S has announced the generation of first power at its Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farm, marking a major milestone for German renewable energy. The project, developed in partnership with Nuveen Infrastructure, will deliver 913 MW of clean electricity to German households and European corporations, supporting the EU's energy transition and energy security. Borkum Riffgrund 3 has secured long-term corporate power purchase agreements with companies such as Amazon, BASF, Covestro, REWE Group, and Google, totaling 786 MW. With the addition of this and other recent projects, Ørsted's installed offshore wind power capacity in Germany will reach around 2.5 GW by early 2026, enough to power 2.5 million homes, solidifying its position as the market leader in German offshore wind.
