Duke Energy Corporation has announced progress in its energy transition efforts, focusing on grid upgrades and cleaner generation sources such as natural gas, nuclear, renewables, and energy storage. The company reports that these initiatives have reduced its annual carbon footprint by 325,000 tons. Duke Energy Florida has completed projects at four natural gas plants, adding more than 330 megawatts of capacity to the electric grid and estimating $340 million in annual fuel savings for customers. The company states that it is reducing rates in early 2026 and plans to complete additional capacity upgrades by early 2027. Duke Energy emphasizes that it passes fuel costs directly to customers without profit, resulting in an average monthly bill reduction of about $10 and a $70 million saving in 2025 from reduced power purchases.
