Canadian Solar Inc.'s subsidiary, Recurrent Energy, has secured a Development Consent Order for the Tillbridge solar and battery energy storage project in Lincolnshire, England. The project will feature 800 MW of solar photovoltaic capacity and 500 MW/1,000 MWh of battery storage, making it one of the largest hybrid solar and storage facilities in the UK. Expected to generate approximately 857.6 GWh of clean electricity annually-enough to power nearly 300,000 homes-the project will also prevent over 15 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions during its lifetime. The construction phase is anticipated to create around 1,250 jobs. In addition to boosting the UK's supply of reliable, low-carbon energy, the project promises significant environmental and community benefits, including a net biodiversity gain of at least 64.44% and enhancements to local green infrastructure and recreational trails.
