Shares of Northern Star Resources (ASX:NST) and Newmont (ASX:NEM) each fell around 2%, while Evolution Mining (ASX:EVN) inched up in Thursday trading, as gold prices held steady following weaker-than-expected US private payrolls data, which fueled expectations of an interest rate cut by the US Federal Reserve next week, while silver surged to a fresh record high.
Spot gold prices were little changed at $4,202.06 per ounce, after reaching a session high of $4,241.29 earlier.
