Advanced Machine Intelligence--AMI--is a project focused on building artificial intelligence systems with a human-like architecture, he says. "It is a project that Mark Zuckerberg really likes and he thinks there might be a future," he adds. However, over the past several months, they both realized that the possible applications of this work extend far beyond Meta's core interests. "So it became clear to me that it was the right time to basically create an independent organization," he says.
