RE/MAX Holdings Inc. has released a new consumer survey highlighting strong demand for homeownership among Americans, despite current market challenges. According to the report, 88% of prospective buyers are likely to purchase a home in 2026, with affordability remaining a significant concern. The survey also found that 71% of respondents have delayed their homebuying plans due to market conditions, but remain committed to their goals. Buyers are prioritizing neighborhood safety, social connection, and access to amenities, indicating a desire for communities that support both lifestyle and financial objectives. Additionally, 78% of those surveyed said more affordable home prices would prompt them to buy within the next six months, while lower mortgage rates would also expedite purchase plans for more than half of respondents.
