Impinj Inc., a leading provider of RAIN RFID technology, has published its Supply Chain Integrity Outlook 2026 research report, highlighting significant challenges in the supply chain sector. The report, based on surveys of 1,000 US consumers and 750 US supply chain leaders, reveals growing tension between rising consumer expectations for faster and more flexible delivery options and the ability of supply chains to meet these demands. Over half of supply chain leaders report increased pressure to enhance convenience, with 51% of consumers likely to stop purchasing from brands that do not offer such options. The analysis also shows that while supply-chain leaders are prioritizing investments in AI and automation, data quality remains a key challenge. Reliable, item-level data-enabled by RAIN RFID technology-is identified as critical for effective AI and supply chain visibility. However, only 42% of respondents currently have real-time supply chain visibility, and just 46% have full item-level traceability. The report underscores the risk of building advanced AI systems on incomplete data and stresses the importance of technologies that support item-level product identification to bridge the gap between consumer demands and operational capabilities.
