Empire State Realty Trust Inc. announced that the Empire State Building has achieved LEED Platinum certification under the Existing Buildings: Operations + Maintenance Version 5 program. This designation, awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council, is the highest level of recognition under the latest standard. The Empire State Building is the largest LEED v5 Platinum project in the United States and the first in New York State to receive this certification. The building has reduced its energy use by 51% through a retrofit and has advanced from Gold to Platinum certification due to continued performance improvements. ESRT has also published the "Empire Building Playbook: An Owner's Guide to Low Carbon Retrofits" to provide guidance for building owners on deep energy retrofits.
