0725 GMT - GS Retail is expected to post solid 4Q earnings growth led by its convenience-store and supermarket segments, IBK Securities analyst Nam Seong-hyun writes in a note. The South Korean retailer likely benefited from government-issued vouchers aimed at boosting private consumption and demand during the Chuseok holiday in October, Nam says. Earnings for the October-December quarter also likely improved on lower fixed costs after the retailer shut some of its unprofitable stores in 1H, he says. He expects GS Retail's 4Q operating profit to have jumped 91% on year to 52.9 billion won. (kwanwoo.jun@wsj.com)
