Austal's (ASX:ASB) Austal USA subsidiary signed a powder partnership agreement with Metal Powder Works (ASX:MPW) to formalize its commercial relationship and establish an expanded collaboration and supply framework, according to a Wednesday filing with the Australian bourse.

Austal USA and Metal Powder Works will develop additional metal powder specifications to be used in the latter's additive manufacturing applications, the filing said.

The two companies will negotiate a commercial offtake agreement once the development program is completed, per the filing.

Austal shares fell 12% in morning trade on Wednesday, while Metal Powder Works shares were up 14%.
