Buenaventura (BVN) said Tuesday its new San Gabriel gold operation in Peru produced its first unrefined gold bar during commissioning tests.
Work is continuing to finalize required arrangements with Peru's Energy and Mines Ministry before starting full production and sales, the company said.
San Gabriel is expected to reach 2,000 tons a day of processing in 2026, versus a nameplate capacity of 3,000 tons a day, Buenaventura said.
Buenaventura expects 2026 gold output of about 70,000 to 80,000 ounces from San Gabriel, it said.
Shares of the company were up over 1.3% in recent Wednesday premarket activity.
