COPENHAGEN-In Denmark, the public mood toward the U.S. has soured since President Trump took office in January of last year and reignited his threats to take Greenland.

Danish tech experts advise the Danish government to choose European alternatives to American tech giants. The mayor of Aalborg city has threatened to pull support for an annual July 4 celebration hosted by a Danish-American friendship organization unless official U.S. diplomatic and military representatives are disinvited.

The number of holiday trips booked to the U.S. has dropped by at least 50% since January 2025, according to the Danish travel industry association, REJS.

"No other country has seen a decline as dramatic as Denmark has," said REJS' director Jakob Hahn, adding that he had "no doubt at all" that Danes were boycotting the U.S. due to the Trump administration's policies.
