Geopacific Resources Finds High Grade Near-Surface Gold Mineralization in Papua New Guinea Project

Geopacific Resources (ASX:GPR) said it found high-grade near-surface gold mineralization during infill drilling at its Woodlark gold project's Wayai Creek in Papua New Guinea, according to a Tuesday Australian bourse filing.

The results were up to 17 meters at 5.29 grams per tonne gold from 36 meters, and nine meters at 1.62 g/t gold from 56 meters.

The company said that the results further define a coherent zone of shallow, high-grade mineralization within the main Wayai Creek lode, supporting improved confidence in the existing mineral resource.

The company added that ongoing drilling at Wayai Creek will test southern extensions and improve drill density for future resource updates with further assays.

The company has completed drilling at Little MacKenzie, testing the revised geology model with assays pending, and commenced drilling below the Busai gold deposit, targeting down-dip extensions to the high-grade western lode.
