General Dynamics Logs 4Q Revenue Rise Fueled by Marine Systems, Defense

General Dynamics reported a jump in fourth-quarter revenue propelled by its marine-systems and combat-systems segments.

The aerospace-and-defense technology company on Wednesday reported a profit of $1.14 billion, or $4.17 a share, compared with a profit of $1.15 billion, or $4.15 a share, a year earlier. Analysts surveyed by FactSet were expecting $4.15 a share.

Revenue rose to $14.38 billion, compared with $13.34 billion a year earlier. Analysts were expecting $13.8 billion in revenue, according to FactSet.

Revenue from the company's marine-systems segment jumped 22% to $4.82 billion, up from $3.96 billion. Combat-systems revenue rose 5.8% to $2.54 billion, up from $2.4 billion.

Aerospace revenue rose 1.2% to $3.79 billion, up from $3.74 billion, while revenue from GD's technologies segment was flat at $3.24 billion.

Operating costs and expenses also rose to $12.93 billion, up from $11.92 billion a year earlier.

The company said its total estimated contract value by the end of 2025 stood at $179 billion, up 24% year over year. That included a backlog of $118 billion, the company said, as well as an estimated $60.9 billion of additional value from unfunded indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contracts and unexercised options.
