SM Energy (SM) said Friday it has closed its all-stock merger with Civitas Resources (CIVI).

The deal was approved by shareholders of each company at meetings on Tuesday, SM Energy said.

The combined company still trades under the ticker "SM" and will keep the name SM Energy, the company said.

Upon closing of the deal, Beth McDonald was named president and chief executive and joined the company's board, and Blake McKenna was named chief operating officer, the company said.
