Cognizant Technology Solutions Raises Quarterly Dividend by 6.5%

Cognizant Technology Solutions' board has raised the professional-services company's quarterly dividend by 6.5%, to 33 cents from 31 cents.

The new payout, equal to $1.32 a year, represents an annual yield of about 1.77%, based on Tuesday's closing price of $74.50, up from 1.66%.

The Teaneck, N.J., company on Wednesday said the increased dividend is payable Feb. 26 to shareholders of record Feb. 18.

Cognizant, which shelled out $1.3 billion to buy back 17.4 million shares last year, said it expects to return $1.6 billion to shareholders this year, including $1 billion through share repurchases.
