Financial stocks were edging higher pre-bell Monday, with the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) advancing by 0.2%.

The Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) was 0.7% higher and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) was down 0.5%.

Fifth Third Bancorp (FITB) said it completed its merger with Comerica (CMA) to form a bank in the US with about $294 billion in assets. Shares of Fifth Third Bancorp were 2% lower premarket.
