Consumer stocks were decreasing Monday afternoon, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) down 1% and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) fractionally lower.
In corporate news, Kroger (KR) shares rose 4.8% after it said Monday that it has appointed former Walmart (WMT) executive Greg Foran as chief executive and that it is reaffirming its fiscal 2025 outlook.
