Deutsche Lufthansa warned of extensive flight cancellations if pilots and cabin crew go ahead with two planned strikes on Thursday.

On Tuesday, VC, the union representing pilots, called on members at Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cargo to strike as part of a long-running dispute over pensions. Meanwhile, the UFO union that represents cabin crew is calling for a new collective bargaining agreement related to working conditions.

The VC strike is set to affect all flights departing from German airports, the pilots' union said. Meanwhile, the UFO strike is expected to affect departures from Frankfurt and Munich airports, the cabin crew's union said.

A spokesperson for Lufthansa said the carrier called on the unions to resume talks. "We are ready to do so at any time," it said.
