The Trump administration has set aside some tech security measures against China ahead of a meeting with President Xi Jinping, Reuters reported Thursday, citing sources.

Among the measures to be shelved are a ban on the U.S. operations of China Telecom (HKG:0728, SHA:601728) and China Mobile (HKG:0941, SHA:600941), as well as the domestic sales of TP-Link's routers, according to the report, citing four sources.

However, the actions could leave U.S. technology vulnerable to possible threats from China, according to the report, citing observers.

Should relations between the two powers turn sour, the U.S. could restore the restrictions, the report said.
