Northern Dynasty Minerals (NAK) said Thursday the company and its US-based subsidiary, Pebble Limited Partnership, plan to file a response on or before April 15 to the US Department of Justice brief concerning the veto of the Pebble mining project in Alaska.

The company said the DOJ brief, filed Feb. 17 in the Alaska Federal Court, "directly contradicts" the findings of the Final Environmental Impact Statement.

Northern Dynasty added that it will continue to explore a settlement with the US Environmental Protection Agency while preparing its legal filing.

Shares of the company were up more than 7% in recent trading.
